The European Union plastic news
2024-01-18 16:36The European Union passed the Single-Use Plastics Directive last year, banning the use of plastic products such as cutlery, stirrers, straws, cotton swabs and some polystyrene containers. Now it is preparing to expand the scope and consider a complete ban on plastic packaging!
In the EU circular economy strategy, the management of plastic pollution is a very important link. As an important measure towards a circular economy, the EU has defined four priority areas:
Improve the quality and economy of plastic recycling; reduce the generation and random disposal of plastic waste; promote investment and innovation through pollution control; establish leading advantages in the fields of climate change, environmental pollution control, and circular economy transformation, and hope to lead the world action. According to the strategy, by 2030, all plastic packaging on the EU market will be reusable/recyclable and will not become unmanaged plastic waste.
