Get to know polypropylene
2023-12-19 10:43Polypropylene (PP) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic. It has high impact resistance, strong mechanical properties, and is resistant to various organic solvents and acid and alkali corrosion. Polypropylene is the lightest plastic raw material. Its appearance is colorless and translucent particles. It is widely used in the industry and is one of the common polymer materials.
Polypropylene can be divided into homopolymers and copolymers of propylene, ethylene or other olefins. Homopolymers can be divided into three types: isotactic PP, syndiotactic PP and atactic PP. Among them, homopolymer isotactic PP is used in the largest amount.
Non-toxic, odorless, low density, strength, stiffness, hardness and heat resistance are better than low-pressure polyethylene, and can be used at around 100°C.
It has good dielectric properties and high-frequency insulation and is not affected by humidity, but it becomes brittle at low temperatures, is not wear-resistant, and is prone to aging.
Suitable for making general mechanical parts, corrosion-resistant parts and insulating parts.
Common organic solvents such as acids and alkalis have little effect on it and can be used in tableware.
