PP plastic properties

2024-01-11 14:00

Polypropylene, referred to as PP, is a thermoplastic synthetic resin with excellent properties. It is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, translucent solid material. It:

Low density and light weight: PP is the lightest plastic raw material, with a density of only 0.89~0.91g/cm³ (smaller than water)

Good heat resistance: Among general plastics, PP plastic has the best heat resistance. Its heat deformation temperature is 80-100°C and can be boiled in boiling water.

Good toughness: PP plastic has good stress crack resistance and high bending fatigue life. It is relatively easy to form. It is commonly known as "100-fold glue" and can be bent repeatedly.

Chemical resistance: PP plastic can resist corrosion from acids, alkalis, salt liquids and various organic solvents below 80°C, and can decompose under high temperatures and oxidation.

At the same time, PP plastic also has electrical insulation, high-strength mechanical properties and good high wear-resistant processing properties.

Disadvantages of PP plastic: low dimensional accuracy, insufficient rigidity, poor weather resistance, easy to produce "copper damage", it has post-shrinkage phenomenon, and after demoulding, it is easy to age, become brittle, and easy to deform.
