Blister packaging of pharmaceutical tablets

2024-01-05 14:15

Blister packaging of medicines is also called blister packaging. Compared with bottled tablet medicines, the biggest advantage of blister packaging is that it is easy to carry and can reduce contamination during the carrying and taking of medicines. However, as patients who take medicine regularly, the single dose is larger, which makes the unit cost of blister packaging significantly higher than that of bottled medicines. Some pharmaceutical companies usually use blister packaging for drugs with higher prices, high technical content and new types of medicines. Most of them are packaged. The materials used in blister packaging are mainly "PTP" medicinal aluminum foil and plastic hard sheets. Medicinal aluminum foil is a sealing material sealed on a hard plastic sheet. It is based on hard industrial pure aluminum and has the characteristics of non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, impermeable, heat-resistant, moisture-proof, light-blocking and high-temperature sterilizability. Plastic hard sheet materials usually use polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) or composite materials. They have good barrier properties against water, vapor and light.

1. Selection matters and principles of medicinal aluminum foil materials

Before using PTP aluminum foil, the buyer must first sign a purchase contract with the supplier. The technical requirements for the product in the contract must be stated: product name, specifications (width and thickness requirements), printing color, direction and position of the text on the aluminum foil roll; aluminum foil structure, adhesive coating amount, coating color requirements, Packaging requirements, etc.

2. Basic principles for choosing medicinal plastic hard sheets or composite materials

For ordinary tablet drugs, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) hard tablets can be used if the requirements for moisture-proof performance are not high. For drugs with moisture-proof and antioxidant requirements, or long shelf life requirements, PET hard sheets and PP hard sheets can be used. Composite hard sheets include: polyvinyl chloride and polyvinylidene chloride composite sheet (PVC/PVDC) or polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene and polyvinylidene chloride (PVC/PE/PVDC) composite sheet. Oral liquids and suppositories can be made of polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene composite tablets (PVC/PE).
