PVC performance characteristics

Flame retardancy

PVC has high flame retardant properties, and its flame retardant value can reach more than 40. When burning under a flame, it extinguishes immediately after leaving the fire, and the flame produced is yellow with a green lower end and white smoke.

chemical resistance

PVC shows good chemical resistance and can resist the corrosion of concentrated hydrochloric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid (concentration of 90%), concentrated nitric acid (concentration of 60%) and concentrated sodium hydroxide (concentration of 20%).

Mechanical strength

PVC has high mechanical strength at room temperature, exceeding the wear resistance of vulcanized rubber. In addition, its hardness and rigidity are superior to polyethylene.

electrical insulation

PVC exhibits good electrical insulation properties and is suitable for use in electrical and electronic fields. Its electrical insulating properties depend on the dosage and type added and are affected by heat treatment.

Aging resistance

PVC is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, and is most sensitive to light wavelength lengths of 270-310 nanometers. It has good resistance to non-polar solvents such as petroleum and mineral oil.

Molding processing characteristics

PVC can be processed using a variety of molding methods, such as calendering, extrusion, injection and blow molding. Rigid PVC often requires the addition of processing aids or impact modifiers to improve processing properties, while soft PVC usually requires the addition of components such as plasticizers.
